Most people see camping as a way to get rid of stress and get away from the stresses of the day. Your trip can be an unmitigated disaster, however, if proper plans are not made. In this article, youll be given tips that can help your next camping excursion to go smoothly.

Pre-cool your ice chest by filling it with loads of ice, at least six hours prior to departure. When you are about to leave, pack up your refrigerated cooled drinks and block ice, not cubed. Popping room temp beverages will take up valuable ice-life, and the cubes will melt much quicker than a block!

If you are going backcountry camping, you should probably carry a snake bite kit in your gear. The best snake bite kits are the ones that use suction. Some kits have scalpels and blood flow constrictors in them. Scalpels can actually cut the poison into the blood stream faster, and constrictors can be deadly if not used properly.

Plan accordingly when it comes to food. It is a hassle to make room in your car for all the food you need. However, proper nourishment is crucial when you are in the woods. Also, items that are fairly inexpensive in your local store often carry a higher price tag near camping sites. Bringing enough food means that you will save money and keep everyone in your family in a good mood.

When it comes to food, bring only what you need on a camping trip. Extra food out in the wilderness is a calling card for wild animals to come visiting your campground. If you do find that you have additional food, tie it up in cloth and handg it as high as you can in a tree away from your immediate campground. This will help keep you from unwanted animal introductions.

Keep an eye on the weather. Rain or other conditions may impact your travel time and your experience at the campsite. Make sure that you have gear that is appropriate for the weather conditions that you may face. Adjust your departure time as necessary to try and avoid the bulk of the bad weather, if possible.

If you have a toddler, pack a blanket. You can lay it out on the ground and use it as a makeshift play area. Bring cars, dolls, or whatever items your child is into. They can play without getting too dirty and you can instruct them that they need to keep their toys on the blanket for safekeeping. This will help to keep things from getting too spread out.

Camping provides the inevitable experience that you, your family and most of your possessions will probably get dirty. If you are mentally prepared for this experience ahead of time, you can relieve the cause for a lot of stress when it does happen. Enjoy being in the woods and allow yourself to let loose and be messy. You can always clean up, and be "normal" when you return home.

Exercise

Take a sleeping pad to help you get a good nights sleep and enjoy your camping trip more. An egg shell shaped foam pad or a rubber exercise mat type pad will provide protection from sticks, stones and uneven ground. This kind of padding can also be arranged on the floor of your tent to prevent rips and tears.

You can have a great time when camping, as previously advised. Unfortunately, it can also be miserable if you are not prepared for what may come your way. Make your next camping experience a success with no foreseen problems by applying your newly found camping knowledge. And most importantly, enjoy your trip!
